Stress Management

Feeling a little stressed lately??  It seems that stress has reached epidemic proportions in our nation.  Every time we turn on the news, things appear more bleak.  On October 24, 2008 I was watching CNN during my morning workout and in one single newscast heard the following information:

  • Mortgage foreclosures are up 71%
  • The 'Dow' dropped 500 points
  • $7 trillion dollars have been lost this year alone, and we have over 2 months to go
  • We are experiencing the highest job lay-offs in the US since the early 1980's
  • We are nowhere near recovering.  Even if our economy started to improve today, it would llikey take 6-7 months before we begin to feel relief

What's not to be stressed about?  We are in the worst of economic times that most folks can remember.  Nearly half of my current caseload involves clients with some type of anxiety, from difficulty sleeping to full blown panic attacks.  Anxiety seems to be through the roof.

Yet not everybody is feeling stressed.  Amazingly, many folks who clearly have their backs against the wall seem to be calm, cool and collected - actually quite happy.  What's their secret?  What makes them so different?

I am one of those people, but I sure didn't used to be.  I am not lucky or blessed - on the contrary, I am a quite ordinary person.  I have simply employed a tested and empirically supported method for 'taking charge' of my own thinking - one that really works.  It's really no secret at all, in fact I can't wait to share it with you.
