On this page are a selection of video series that are designed to introduce the viewer to the process of change that I use in my practice ~ CAVP (Cognitive Audio Visual Programming), which is a propietary blend of two powerful strategies, CBT (Cognitve-Behavioral Technique) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). The 'AV' in the middle of the ancronym stands for Audio/Visual techniques that have been developed to fully leverage the neurological function of the human brain. This process also harnesses the power of cutting edge technology that most people carry around in their pocket ~ the Smart Phone. I like to think of it has 'having a little change in your pocket'. Feel free to peruse these videos and send me any questions you might have. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed filming them!
The Neurobiology Of Change ~ This presentation is an over-view of the process from start to finish, using the the problem of 'weight loss' as the example. I chose weight-loss because of the fact that 68% of Americans are over-weight or obese, hence most potential viewers woud be albe to relate.
Weight Loss ~ This presentation is designed specifically for those who would like to lose weight. Unlike diets or fads, applying CAVP to the problem gets to the heart of the matter ~ distorted thinking that must be corrected in order to permanently fix the problem.
Food Addiction ~ This series is a bit different from the weight-loss series, but shares many of the same general ideas. This particular series was developed from an actual 'in-house' program that occurred in late 2013. Following that 'live' series, I shot this series, early in 2014. This series was my very first attempt at creating video.
Responsible Drinking ~ As the name implies, this series is aimed at using CAVP to develop 'responsble drinking' behaviors. It is an alternative to AA or other abstinence programs. Quite simply, many folks who drink to much are not interested in quitting, but rather moderating. CAVP is a powerful way to do just that.
Stress ~ This series deals with stress in general and applies CAVP strategies and techniques to learning how to think your way to calm.
The Covid-19 Pandemic ~ The Covid-19 virus and ensuing pandemic 'freaked' more than a few people out. In March 2020 when it hit home for me, I responded by creating a video series aimed directly at the stress I saw escalating quickly. The goal of the series was to show people how to use CAVP to keep things in perspective.
Performance Anxiety ~ Anxiety comes in all shapes and sizes. One of the more prominent forms is the anxiety related to performance. This series demostrates how to use CAVP strategies to calm the nerves when it comes to performance.
Exerciser's Mindset ~ It is estimated that 20% of Americans get the recommended amount of exercise. In my estimation, 100% of Americans know they should, probably want to, and just can't seem to make it happen. This series explores how to use CAVP to create the mindset necessary to actually 'be' an exerciser.
Fade To Black ~ Related to the concept of developing an exerciser's mindset is the concept that so many people start off strong (be that exercise or diet) and then eventually 'fade to black'. This series is dedicated to circumventing that phenomenon. Literally using CAVP to prevent 'fading to black'.
The Sleep Project ~ Getting a 'good night's sleep' is so elusive for so many Americans today. The key to doing so may be very different from what you think. Applying CAVP to the problem of 'sleep' is the focus of this series. Like so many issues we face, the problem is often wrapped up in how we think about the problem.
The OBX Project ~ OBX, if you don't know, stands for the Outer Banks, NC, one of my favorite vacation destinations. Like so many Americans, my view of 'vacations' needed a bit of renovation. On a whim, I decided to document the process of me applying CAVP principles to my own desire to stay disciplined on vacation.
MOPS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers) ~ CAVP can be applied to literally any 'problem' imaginable. This series is a remake of an actual presentaiton I gave to a MOPS group, one of many speaking engagements I have done in my career. It demonstrates how these techniques can help 'stressed out and disheartened' mothers to see their lives differently ~ as a beautiful mess!
CAVP (Cognitive Audio-Visual Programming) ~ This series is more or less a 'video-book' that gives the viewer the general history of CAVP. I created this series back in 2015. The process has evolved a bit since then, but the basic components remain the same. In 2020 this 'book' was re-written as: Why Can't I Just Do It? I hope you enjoy both renditions!
